REC launches new training programme for budding head-hunters

The REC has launched a series of new courses and training materials exclusively aimed at those recruiters who may be considering working in the Executive Search sector.

Devised in conjunction between the REC’s Professional Development team and the Association of Executive Recruiters, one of its specialist sector groups, this new initiative comprises three courses plus a set of four training DVDs.

Courses available include an introduction to headhunting which offers an insight into the role of executive recruiters, the product, process and people. The second course concentrates on developing headhunting skills while the third is on how to generate more candidates.

The trainers for these courses will be David Winterburn FREC, a former REC Chairman who is now the UK non-executive director for the European Confederation of Search and Selection Associations and Peter Rodgers, the current Chair of the Association of Executive Research.

Developing the DVDs is also the work of Peter Rodgers, who has pledged to promote and extend the image of Executive Search within the wider market place. The DVDs’ contents comprise the differences between retaining and contingency recruitment; the research function; how to market retained executive search and the economics of search.

Judith Armatage, the REC’s Director of Professional Development, said: “There is still a considerable mystique about the roles of executive recruiters and head-hunters that are in the business of recruiting senior and specialist personnel.

“We are extremely fortunate to have secured the services of both David Winterburn and Peter Rodgers in developing this particular training programme, harnessing their experience and expertise in this particular area. Coupled with that, both are passionate about executive recruitment and indeed, the work of the REC. “
