Latest unemployment figures confirm pressure on UK jobs market

The REC’s Chief Executive Kevin Green has responded to the latest ONS labour market statistics which shows a 140,000 increase in the number of people unemployed in the three month period up to September. The rise in the number of people out of work has risen to 1.89 million, the highest in 11 years.

Following a vote in the European Parliament this week the UK opt-out is now in peril. REC welcomes the creation of the Fair Employment Enforcement Board

The REC today welcomed the creation of the Fair Employment Enforcement Board, which held its first meeting on 5th November 2008. The Board has been set up to coordinate the efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect vulnerable workers.
